John Hazard is a freelance illustrator, animator and educator. While at Nickelodeon he did game design, flash animation and avatar character creation and played a core role in the development and execution of Nicktropolis, Nick.com's online interactive chat and gaming environment for kids. Additionally, as Animation Director he created animated sequences for the on-air show Romeo!. His work was also featured in the Nickelodeon TV movie Shredder Man Rules and the interactive show U-Pick Live. John has illustrated several children’s books for Horizon Press.
John’s first love has always been comic art. John illustrated Schmooze or Lose, the award winning weekly newspaper comic strip appearing in the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles for over two years. He then went on to create his own character Frankenstein Superstar whose antics were chronicled in a web comic he wrote and drew.
For four years John taught Humor & Caricature and digital art at the Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, and developed character design and story concepts for online comics, website assets, and toys. He currently sells his t-shirts and art online and in galleries, and is seeking his next full-time gig.
